Today's Nails #26

I painted my friends nails over the weekend and used Barry M Bluegrape nail polish, it looked amazing so it went on my nails too! Lying at the bottom of my nail polish bag I found my box of little gems which I had brought ages ago but had forgotten about! So I popped a few on my nails and in the thumb and ring finger of both hands I did a little leopard print design.

Products used are...
*OPI Nail Envy
*Barry M Gelly in Bluegrape
*Sinful colours in Snow Me White
* Maybelline colour show in blackout
*essie good to go topcoat
*mixed gems I got from eBay

I really hope that the sun comes back out soon! Where I live it's been raining for the last week which is such bad timing as we've just had our garden completly made over and all I want to do is sit in it and soak up some sun but no, the rain has other plans. Fingers crossed for Sunshine!

What Now?

What now? is a question I keep on asking myself a lot lately. Yesterday I finished my second year of college and I will hopefully leave with a Level 3 Floristry qualification to add to my Level 2. I know for a fact that I want to be a florist and that its something I can see myself doing forever and to be honest I would love to do it forever as its such a rewarding job, but getting a job is hard! I knew that it would be unlikely to get a job in a florist straight from college but that doesn't mean I haven't tried, the frustrating thing is is that people do even want free work off me! I have even tried places other than a florist but its useless haha.
Regarding next year, I have applied at a local college for a makeup and nails course, a hobby I'm interested in and want to learn more about but I'm not sure a third year at college is something I want to do, I have been thinking about doing an apprenticeship in floristry but certain things have been holding me back from applying for it. But if I think rationally about it it makes sense to do it, at the moment I'm jobless and doing an apprentice would got me industry experience as well as a wage and it will help me get more into the floristry industry which is an industry I hope to spend the rest of my life in.
And just for fun I thought I would throw in a picture of a top table arrangement I made a little while ago :)

At the moment I'm not going to worry as I don't see a point in it but I'm sure life will work itself out if I keep trying.

I know this was a different type of post to the usual but I imagine its something a lot of people go through.

Urban Decay Naked 3 palette - Review and Swatches

Urban Decays Naked 3 palette. The hype, the beauty and the great combination of colours.
I brought the Naked 3 palette back in January for a measly £7 (instead of the £37 retail price) thanks to a gift card of my Nan (thanks Nan!) I know that by now that there are hundreds of reviews about this palette, but its just to beautiful for me not to write about it!
Naked 3 is the follow up palette from Urban Decay's Naked and Naked 2 palettes. It contains 12 brand new, never before seen rose-hued neutral shades form Urban Decay.

Strange - pale, neutral pink, matte-satin,
Dust - Pale metallic pink shimmer with iridescent micro-glitter,
Burnout - Light pinky-peach satin
Limit - Light dusty rose matte

Buzz - Metallic rose shimmer with with silver micro-glitter
Trick - Light metallic pinky-copper shimmer with tonal micro sparkle
Nooner - medium pinky-brown matte
Liar - medium metallic mauve shimmer

Factory - Pinky-brown satin
Mugshot - metallic taupe shimmer with pink shift
Darkside - deep taupe-mauve satin
Blackheart - smokey black matte with rosy red micro sparkle

As you can tell from the swatches above, all the eye shadows in the Naked 3 palette are incredibly pigmented, they all apply and blend beautifully. I do find that I get a lot of fall out particularly from the shimmery shades so I always make sure that I apply my foundation after I do my eyes when I use this palette.
The lasting power of these eye shadows is great too, I apply them in the morning over a primer (I always use a primer so it would be wrong of me to review them without a primer under!) and by the time it comes to taking off my makeup in the evening my eye shadow is still really fresh looking, they don't crease and they don't fade either.
This palette comes with a free sample of all four Urban Decay Primer Potions, which I quite like as it ave me the chance to try them before buying them.

Overall I am in love with this palette, I find that the colours are really easy to work with, because if I'm honest, I was a little worried that I would never use pink eye shadows, but I'm finding myself using them on almost a daily basis. After trying this I would love to get Naked and Naked 2.

What do you think of Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette?

Love Me Beauty June 2014 box

If you haven't already heard of Love Me beauty boxes they are a beauty box subscription which, unlike other beauty boxes, they offer you 3 options of boxes to choose from each month. Which means that although the element of surprise isn't there because you know what your getting, you can be sure you are getting something you want as you have the option to choose. They are £10 plus £2.95 postage. Also its Love Me Beauty's 1st Birthday this month!

This month was my first box and I opted for option 1, in this box I received...

Beauty UK 'Earth Child' eye shadow palette, full size, RRP £3.99
This has a lovely selection of browns and greens, I've not actually touched this yet so cant say any sort of opinion.

Urban Venda Purifying Day cream, sample (RRP £14.99 for full size)
I haven't tried this one yet but I will soon as it says it is hydrating and light, and is supposed to tighten pores and support healthy cell renewal.

NYX cosmetics Nail polish, full size RRP £3
This is a beautiful bright pink, it has a shimmer in it so it catches the light a bit better.

Montagne Jeunesse Brazilian Mud fabric masque, full size, RRP £1
I'm really looking forward to trying this, I love a good face mask and I've not tried ony of the Montagne Jeunesse ones before.

Model Co Shine Ultra Lip Gloss in Fairy Floss, full size, RRP £12
I already love this lip gloss, on lips there is no colour its just glossy with a small hint of shimmer. my favourite thing about this is the smell and taste, is so sweet and I swear I just wear it to taste it! I love the packaging on this gloss as it has a really handy mirror in the side of the tube.

Also in this box you get a £10 gift voucher for Flavourly which is a food subscription, this offers you £10 off you first month.

I have to say that I'm not overly impressed with this box, although some lovely products I have seen other people write about past boxes which seemed much better, but that said, I'm still looking forward to next moths box. Don't forget that this is just option 1, there are 2 and 3 you could go and have a look at!

FOTD - Navy liner and red lips

Red glossy lips are something I've been wearing a lot lately, generally I am a fan of gloss over matte but I normally prefer red to be matte however that's recently changed.

On my face I used...

** A mix of Benefit Hello Flawless foundation and Illamasqua Light foundation (review) mixing these just gave a lighter coverage than the Benefit but more than the Illamasqua as it was quite a warm day when I wore this makeup.
** Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, I know I always use this but a) its the only concealer I have and b) It does the job so I don't need to buy or use any other.
** Collection Lasting Perfection powder I use it for the exact same reasons as I use the concealer.

On the cheeks...

**NYX blusher in Taupe and Amber, anoyingly I have noticed that my blush never seems to show up on pictures even though its very obviously there in person!

**MAC Paint pot in soft ochre (review)
**Eyeko Skinny Liquid liner in Navy, I'm not 100% on this to be honest I thinks its had more praise than it should have.
** Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara, I love this! unfortunately my little tube is running out which makes me incredibly sad.

**NYX Butter gloss in Cherry Pie

On another note, I've started healthy eating and exercising! The exercise i'm doing is the Blogilates beginners calender with the hope of moving on to her monthly calenders, I'm almost a week in and I can definitely feel it working! especially my stomach muscles! The burn haha!

Huge Collective Haul part 2 - Superdrug, Models Own, Benefit, Sleek, NYX and More!!!

So, here is more evidence that I need to gain more self control! This part of my collective haul is all the beauty products I have brought. You can see part 1 here, which is all clothes and accessories.

I only walked into Superdrug for the Real Techniques Blush brush and I walked out with 2 blushes as well! I finally got my mitts on the Sleek Bronzing Block, I got mine in the light shade. I also picked up Bourjois cream blusher in 03.

I finally got my first piece of Topshop makeup! I was stood for ages trying to decide on what shade of lipstick to get, with the help of my mum I eventually settled for Ohh La La, a gorgeous coral shade. Then I got these two L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splash, I originally picked up just one but loved it so much I went to get another.

Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara, so far so good, I love the little brush it as for bottom lashes as it makes life so easier for someone who always gets mascara under my eye!

A naughty Models Own order happened too! I couldnt find the Hyper Gel topcoat or the Microdots in stores so I ordered them online and got myself sucked into the half price express dry whilst I was there. (please tell me I'm not the only one who does that?)

A new foundation is something I have been after for ages and the Hello Flawless from Benefit is the one! I've already wrote a little bit about it in my May favorites, but I just love it!

I am extremely exited about trying all the NYX makeup I brought! I've not really tried them before so i made a little order and brought 3 blushers, Sweet Temptations Butter gloss set and an eye shadow palette!
So that's everything, obviously this was all brought over the course of about 3-4 weeks and not all at once!

Blog Makeover!

You may or may not have noticed that my blog has had a little redesign! I am so exited about it.
I'm so rubbish with techy stuff and I'm sure you'll agree that my blog looked really awful as it was, but I am very grateful that the lovely Sinead was able to help.

She took everything I said to her on board, she responded really quickly to emails and the redesign was done within two days of the first email, which is pretty amazing. She was willing to make any changes if I wanted (which I didn't because it was lovely the first time!). I really recommend you check her out if your looking for a redesign as her prices are really reasonable too! You can find all her details here

Huge Collective Haul Part 1 - Zara, Topshop, Primark and Dorothy Perkins

I was in need of some retail therapy so I hit the shops and damage got done! I first fell victim to Topshop, I normally avoid this shop like the plague for the simple reason of I can never leave empty handed! And I certainly didn't this time.

This absolutely gorgeous midi skirt really caught my eye when I walked in, I am really into printed bottoms at the moment and this is right up my street! the bold colours and amazing print is exactly me and I can already tell I will gets lots of wear out of this.
I actually saw this bag on my way to the changing rooms to try on the skirt. They had it in loads of different colours but the green was the one that stood out. its a gorgeous dark green and its a patent fabric, I also love satchels so this one was a winner.
This cute little scrunchie with bunny ears and a daisy print is something I couldn't resist! I've worn it a few times already and its just adorable!

From Primark I just picked up a few pain t-shirts because they always come in useful and are just nice, light and causal for summer.

Sandals and summer shoes are something I never have during summer, I honestly dont know how I survive summer without them but its only because I can never find any that fit me because of my really awkward feet. However Dorothy Perkins had the answer to my prayers this year and I now finalally have some shoes for summer!
White sandals here, I cant find the peach shoes on the website!

I was also really naughty and made a little Zara order last week! I've never shopped on Zara before so I was quite exited for my parcel to arrive, This is what I brought...

The dress is something I have had my eye on for ages, I finally caved and brought it along with a t-shirt and a pair of stunning earrings. The dress is a lovely peach with muliticoloured flowers on it, the style is a skater dress which is really flattering on me. The top has got me written all over it! I constantly say "I'm not a Monday Person" or "I hate Mondays" so it was a no brainer to buy this. Despite making my my own jewellery ( I have a tab at the top of my blog with all the info about that! or click here!) I don't actually wear a lot, however I'm in love with these earrings so they made their way into my basket.

Part 2 will be up soon which is completely beauty related :)

May Favorites 2014

June is here! I actually cant believe how fast the year has gone, its just unreal. During may, other than my usual, I've fund myslef reaching for a few other things.

My first favorite is one I actually haven't had for that long, I think I got it about a week to week and a half before the end of may, but I love it already! This is the Benefit Hello Flawless foundation, I've been on the hunt for a foundation for ages and I always thing that foundation is something that you should spend a bit more money on. This makes my skin look healthy and gives it a nice glow plus the coverage is really nice too.

I've found myself using the is NARS Ride up to the moon palette a lot more this month too. It is just stunning! its got absolutely gorgeous colours in it which have the most beautiful shimmer to them. They are really long lasting too which makes me love it even more!
The Barry M Kohl eye pencil is the perfect colour I have been searching for ( I say searching but I haven't really looked that hard) I cant find a name on it but its the matte brown one. This looks lovely in the waterline as it adds the definition but its not as harsh as black which is the whole reason I brought it.
A little while ago QVC launched Tarte on their site, of course I had to by one of their blushes. The shade I brought is True Love which a lovely bright-ish pink. I've reached for this a lot more this month too mostly because its beautiful and lasts me all day. I will be buying another but I think I will wait till I have the money for a Sephora us order as they work out much cheaper.

I've never really worn a highlighter but at Christmas I got the Benefit little love potions gift set and in it was the beauty that is High Beam. As soon as this little sample runs out I will definitely be buying the full size because I just find it stunning, it adds a beautiful look to my cheeks.
I've been getting more into eye brushes this year and the one I've loved this month is Crown Brush C441 Deluxe blending crease brush. When I first got this I sort of forgot about it and it just sat there unused for a while, but I tried it this month and I now use it every day. It bleds shadow so lovely I need to buy another for when this one gets dirty and I'm too lazy clean it!

So there are my May favorites, I'd love to know what your favorites have been.

FOTD - Minimal Makeup

I don't often wear makeup if I'm planning on staying in the house all day, but sometimes I find putting on a bit of makeup helps give the motivation do actually get things done because I feel like I'm fully awake (weird I know).
Last week was half term so I was planning on staying in for a few days to get my course work done, so the little makeup give the wake up I needed to get off the sofa and do it.

On my face I used...

* Collection Lasing Perfection concealer*
*Collection lasting perfection powder*
*Sleek Blush in Pixi Pink*
*MUA Lash Boom mascara*
*Benefit Hoola Bronzer*
*MAC Syrup lipstick*

This is the face that got me through 8/9 ours of floristry theory!

What makeup do you wear when you don't want to wear much?

InvisiBobble - The traceless hair tie Review

When it comes to my hair a bobble is always an essential, although I love long hair I quite often tie it up when doing things as I can't stand it all around my face, however putting my hair up at random times through the day at home and at college I'm often left with the awful bobble kink. I had heard about Invisibobble a few times on twitter but never really thought it was something I should buy. A few weeks ago I was in Boots and went to the hair section to get a few more bobbles and saw Invisibobble on the shelf, if I'm honest, I brought these out of pure curiosity.

Naturally curiosity couldn't wait until the next day to try these, so that afternoon I tied up my hair. The first bobble I put in my hair snapped straight away whilst I was putting it in! I don't know if this was my fault for being heavy handed or if it was just a dodgy one but so far the others have survived. That night I took it out and no kink!
The thing I found most strange with these is how they look, just like how telephone cords used to look. But it's this shape that stops them from kinking the hair, the telephone cord style of them puts uneven pressure on the hair which prevents kinking.
Top - unused, bottom - stretches slightly with use, Right - the broken one

The Invisibobble claims to

* Be traceless - Yes absolutely, I can wear this all day and have no kink when I take my hair down in the evening.

*Avoid headaches - I cant say if it avoids headaches because I don't get headaches when I wear my hair up, but its not giving me a headache which is good.

*Caring to the hair - I don't really understand how a bobble can be caring to the hair, I'm assuming it wont break or pull the hair. I do find that when I remove the bobble, because of its rubbery texture it can pull on my hair a bit which can be uncomfortable.

*Wearable with all hair types - My hair type is medium length, thick and straight (ish) and I find it works fine with it, I cant comment on how it would be with fine or curly hair but don't see it being a massive problem if your hair is fine or curly.

* Bracelet feature - I do wear this on my wrist but its not the most attractive thing however with other bracelets I can see it working quite well. It also leave a funny looking dent in me skin when its on my wrist

Other than the fact that they don't kink the hair, I was quite surprised at how strong it held my hair up, for some reason I wasn't expecting to do that well and leave no kink but I'm definitely pleasantly surprised by these.

Overall I love Invisibobble and will continue to use them, I am extremely glad they do actually work! A strong hold, no kink what more can you ask for from a bobble?

These retail for £3.75 which I do think is a bit steep for three bobbles! I brought mine from here

Have you tried these? what do you think?
